MODRON Event Update & News

Sending a warm hello! We are writing first with an event update. You may have seen our recent post about our upcoming event in London at Lumen this Tuesday night (April 14th). We just wanted to flag up that there will be a £5 entry fee, all of which will be donated to a homeless shelter. We realized that this fact had been omitted in our last post, but we hope to see you there, and thanks for supporting MODRON, Lumen and this cause – homelessness – which is close to hearts here at the magazine.

Meanwhile, we have some other news items.

Writing on the Welsh isle of Enlli

Enlli is a beautiful place at any time, but this May 2026, Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre will be going on tour and venturing over the Swnt to Ynys Enlli for a special course under the care of ecologist, Elinor Gwynn. Special guests will also be joining us during the week to contribute different perspectives to the course, including Living Seas Manager at North Wales Wildlife Trust, Nia Jones, and MODRON editors Glyn F. Edwards and Siân Melangell Dafydd. In addition to pre-arranged activities, we will collaborate with Bardsey Island Trust to find opportunities for you to take part in other events all over the island during the week. More often than not on Enlli however, it is the unexpected and personal experiences and encounters that spark the imagination and stimulate creation. There will be enough free time set aside in the course timetable for you to enjoy your leisure time on the island and to discover sights and places that are special to you. Writing the Body: Enchantment, Nature, and Embodiment

MODRON editor Zoë Brigley and poet and actress Rupinder Kaur Waraich will be presenting an exciting writing workshop at Tŷ Newydd in North Wales looking at the body in all its complexity — through lenses of enchantment, nature, mental health, disability, body positivity and neutrality, and the lived experiences of bodies traditionally marginalized. Workshops will be generative and exploratory, with opportunities to experiment with form, sound, and imagery. Afternoons will offer one-to-one feedback to help you refine your poems and develop your individual voice. This is a course for poets at any stage of their practice, but with a particular welcome to those interested in bold, tender, and truth-telling work that challenges conventional narratives of the body. Earth Day

We are currently plotting and planning and collaborating with some wonderful writers on materials to be realeased for Earth Day. This year it will be Wednesday April 22nd, so watch this space.

Open to Nonfiction Pitches

We have had some people asking about poetry at the moment. We will be open to poetry later in the year, but remember that we are always open to nonfiction pitches or interviews, so don’t be afraid to get in touch if you have a project that might be right for us. Check out what we are looking for on our Submissions Page.
