Interview with Ruth Padel

We’re Back: Modron Returns with a Special End of Summer Feature!

After a refreshing summer break, Modron is back—and we couldn’t be more excited to kick off the season with an exclusive interview with one of Britain’s most celebrated poets, Ruth Padel.

Ruth Padel is a writer of extraordinary range. With close personal ties to Greece, India, classical music, nature, wildlife conservation, and science, she is first and foremost an award-winning poet. Her impressive body of work includes thirteen acclaimed poetry collections, two novels, and a wide sweep of non-fiction. She lives in London, is a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Literature and the Zoological Society of London, and currently serves as Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Magdalene College, Cambridge.

In this intimate conversation, Ruth shares insights into her creative process, the inspirations behind her work, and the profound connection she feels to the natural world—a theme that runs through her poetry. This interview offers a rare glimpse into the mind of a poet who continually inspires and challenges the way we see both language and nature.

This conversation was made possible thanks to the collaboration between our Modron editor, Taz Rahman, and his Just Another Poet, the brilliant YouTube channel dedicated to bringing poetry to life. Together, they’ve crafted a discussion that will resonate with poetry enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone passionate about the arts.

Don’t miss this chance to dive into the mind of Ruth Padel and celebrate the return of Modron with us.
