A Poem by / Cerdd gan Rosie Hadden

Translated by / Cyfieithwyd gan Siân Melangell Dafydd

when you are ill again

i dress myself in golden plover’s down
crawl into the spaces
where moss flourishes

quiet as sphagnum
i hide in the sprawling arms of willow
wait for the fawn to arrive

as i know she will hobbling through the bog
nibbling the tops of blue scabious
purple moor grass reeds

i want to climb inside her eyes
stretch my vision three hundred degrees
discover dawn and twilight

sense the sweat
on the hunter’s finger
when he’s half a mile away

follow the doe-herd’s tracks
through bracken bramble gorse
up onto the Carn’s shoulders

know the steadiness of four feet
and what it is to leap
the boundary wall

ppan fyddi’n sal eto

gwisgaf fy hun mewn manblu’r cwtiad aur
gwasgaf i gulfanau
lle mae mwsogl yn ffynnu

mor dawel â migwyn
rwy’n cuddio ym mreichiau llydan yr helyg
gan aros i’r elain gyrraedd

gan fy mod mor sicr y daw	yn hercian trwy’r gors
yn cnoi blaenau’r clafr glas
glaswellt y gweunydd cyrs

hoffwn ddringo i'w llygaid
ymestyn fy ngolwg dri chant gradd
nes darganfod gwawr a chyfnos

synhwyro’r chwys
ar fys yr heliwr
hanner milltir i ffwrdd

dilyn traciau gyr yr ewig
trwy redyn mieri eithin
i fyny ar ysgwyddau'r Carn

deall cadernid pedwar carn
a sut beth yw
llamu’r wal derfyn
