A Poem by / Cerdd gan Caleb Nichols

Orme Dream

a quandary of oystercatchers
stalks the cricket pitch

& piss steams off the west beach sea wall
below the road up to the Orme

fuzzy teeth of goats
dot the distant ridges

& sun dazzles snow-capped Eryri
in this schizophrenic weather

the gull can’t lick the cream
from its beak

the jackdaw flaps for scraps
of sausage roll

we both had dreams
of haircuts in the same blizzard

and you’ve had horse piss
in your mouth

sometimes a horse is just a horse

most dreams have no meaning

BREUDDWYD Y GOGARTH

llu o biod môr
yn ’stelcian y cae criced

& pi-pi’n stemio o forglawdd y traeth gorllewinol
Islaw’r ffordd i fyny i'r Gogarth

dannedd aneglur geifr
yn ddotiau hyd y cribau pell

& haul yn dallu Eryri â’i chapiau eira
yn y tywydd sgitsoffrenig yma

all yr wylan ddim llyfu'r hufen
o'i big

fflapian am sbarion selsig
wna’r jac-y-do

cafodd y ddau ohonom freuddwydion
o dorri gwallt yn yr un storm eira

ac rwyt ti wedi cael pi-pi ceffyl
yn dy geg

weithiau dim ond ceffyl yw ceffyl

a does dim ystyr i’r mwyafrif o freuddwydion
